When is Amazon Prime Day 2020?
Amazon Prime Day 2020 is in October this year, running from Tuesday 13th October 2020 at 12am to Wednesday 14th October 2020 at 12pm. Amazon Prime Day is usually held in July, but it has been delayed this year due to the impact of Covid-19 and the subsequent demands put on online shopping and delivery.
What is Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon Prime Day is a kind of flash sale of eye-watering discounts on the site, with 2020 being its sixth year in existence. At midnight on the 13th October 2020, Amazon started slashing prices on everything from tech to fashion for all Prime customers.
Over 100,000 products are on offer during this time – including some of Amazon’s own-brand products, like Alexa and Kindle – so now’s the time to buy if they’ve been in your ‘saved for later’ for weeks. New offers are rolled out as often as every five minutes, so keep checking back here for the best live deals!
Which is better, Amazon Prime Day or Black Friday?
On Amazon, Prime Day and Black Friday are fairly similar, with the site offering big discounts on both occasions. Other retailers only really celebrate Black Friday, so there will be a much bigger choice for the latter.
That said, Amazon has such a broad choice of products on offer that it’s well worth keeping your eyes on your favourites for a flash deal. If you plan well and do both, you can scatter your money-spending over two months rather than one.
What type of deals are available on Amazon Prime Day?
With literally thousands of deals across Amazon’s broad selection, there are usually two types of bargains: Deals of the Day and Lightning Deals.
Amazon Flash Deals
Throughout the week small numbers of products that are very rarely on sale will be available at a heavily discounted price. They’re usually only on sale for a matter of hours, so you have to be on it on the day, as they’ll be gone in, err, a flash… Hence the name.
Amazon Lightning Deals
Amazon often runs Lightning Deals, but on Prime Day they’ll be rolling them out as often as every five minutes. Just to add to the pressure, these deals will come with a little timer and availability bar showing how many are left in stock. Here’s a top tip: if you put a Lightning Deal into your shopping cart, be sure to buy it within 15 minutes! After that, Amazon will automatically eject the item and you’ll have to fight the rest of the crowd for it again.
If you’ve missed out on anything, you can always try your luck by joining a waitlist on a product – in case they restock, or somebody changes their mind about a big purchase.
Another benefit to having a Prime membership on this hallowed occasion is that you can receive your products in as short a time as one hour – but don’t panic if that’s not ideal. If you’re not pushed for time, you can turn on No-Rush Delivery and it’ll push back your delivery to something not quite as instant.
How can I shop Amazon Prime Day deals?
To access Amazon Prime Day 2020 deals and nab those all-important discounts, you’ll need an Amazon Prime membership. But it doesn’t have to cost you anything, as they offer a 30 day trial – simply sign up for a free month-long Amazon Prime membership to join the shopping fun now.
Beyond access to Amazon Prime Day, members are also bumped up to a priority delivery tier with free same-day and one-day delivery options. You’ll also get access to everything on Amazon Prime Video, as well as Prime Reading and Prime Music.
But wait, there’s more! You’ll also be able to get 30 minutes’ early access to Amazon Lightning Deals, beating the crowd to amazing bargains well before they sell out.
Does anyone else offer Prime Day deals apart from Amazon?
Only Amazon does Amazon Prime Day (the clue is kind of in the name), but other retailers, like John Lewis, have been known to price-match and offer the same deals on selected products during the sales. So it’s definitely worth checking there too in case something on your wish list sells out.
Prime Day is running between 12am on Tues 13th October to 11:59pm on Wednesday 14th October, so the time is *now* if you want to get those savings in. Check back here for the best deals as and when they’re released.
Black Friday, who?
